Synopsis:

A touching road movie about a father and his son coming to terms in mountainous Southern China. An aging postman (Teng Rujun) is ready to call it a career, but must first pass on his appointed occupation to his rebellious son (Liu Ye of Lan Yu). Against the son's wishes, the father insists on traveling with him for one last three-day journey across the mountains and back, to show him the ropes and perhaps more. The going is tough, and the son is unwilling to listen to his father at first. But as the two travel, the people the meet and the land they traverse manage to close the gap between them. Huo Jianqi's Postmen in the Mountains is a heartwarming film about understanding through shared experience, and the hidden treasures found in seemingly average people along the way.
