90年代的上海VK大酒店，就像一個通向新世界的窗口，每天迎來送往着形形色色、來自世界各地的尊貴客人。在那個人人都削尖了腦袋想要出國淘金的年代裡，酒店主管路途(阮經天 飾)反而很滿意自己在上海的工作及生活。直到酒店客人米先生(苗僑偉 飾)的到來，點名要求路途跟隨他到紐約工作；但路途的父親正因為到紐約淘金而客死異鄉，紐約這個地方在路途心中有着不能言喻的痛。而深愛路途的阿鵑(杜鵑 飾)同時也希望路途能夠帶著她出國闖出名堂。
因為愛情，路途把出國的機會讓給了阿鵑，卻沒想到米先生口中所謂的「曼哈頓上海大酒店」和出國工作的機會根本就只是一個巨大騙局。當路途得知這一切，往紐約尋找阿鵑和米先生時，阿鵑已成為意大利黑手黨唐尼的情婦。最後，在劇院的洗手間裏，路途、阿鵑和米先生對峙，路途為了捍衛自己的愛情，最終會落得怎麼樣的下場呢？
